Terrible Sore Throat And Vomiting, Felt A Lump With Difficulty In Swallowing. Is This Two Related?

Hi. I threw up after eating last night. I woke up with a terrible sore throat but not the back of my throat where my glands are but about the middle of my neck . It feels like there is a lump there and it is difficult and very painful to swallow . At first I thought it was just a sore throat but now I m thinking it is somehow related to the vomiting

Hi,
Thanks for writing your query.

After reading your post, it seems that the swelling you are experiencing in your throat is due to inflammed tonsils.

You should get following investigations done :-
1. Complete Blood Count(CBC).
2. Throat swab culture.

You can take an antacid like Omeprazole 20 mg along with Domperidone 10 mg once a day before meals to prevent acidity and vomiting.
Also take pain killer like Ibuprofen one tablet twice a day after meals to reduce the pain and swelling..

Sore throat can be due to acid content of the vomitus, but still you should get the above mentioned investigations to rule out any infection.

If the problem persists, get yourself examined by an ENT specialist.
I hope this is helpful to you.
Thanks.
