Testicle Surgery Done. Noticed Pus On The Stitched Part. How To Treat It?
Good Morning, My father who is 79 yrs old has undergone a testicle surgery for symptoms of prostrate cancer . The surgery was on 23rd of Nov, 2012. the stitches has not been removed as yet, but we notice that the stitched part has become infeted and pus is coming out while dressing. How can we treat this at home as he is bed ridden. Thanks, YYYY@YYYY
Hi!
welcome to HCM!
If your father's stitched area is producing a clear or clear yellowish liquid it's just healing. Keep it clean. If he has absorbable stitches and the absorbtion time has passed but they are still present you should check with his doctor. If the stitches are non absorbing then you will have to take him back to his doctor for their removal. At that time you can discuss leakage problems.
If the fluid is thick and yellow he has the beginnings of an infection which may require additional treatment.
Hope this will help you!
