Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Thank you, I am. A 72 year old male on oxygen 24/7 due to COPD. My disease was diagnosed in 2009 and I smoked and worked in a dirty air environment for 35 years. In July I was not on my oxygen for roughly three hours. Suddenly my breath became very short and. I went to sleep he car and immediately started back on my oxygen. I was rushed to the local er and was unresponsive so they preformed CPR and I was stabilized. After being under anesthesia for approx. 30 hours I became conscious and was able to recognize and speak and was normal and progressing. While still in the hospital bed I noticed a produced pain in my right shoulder blade toward and close to my spine. All the doctors including the hospitalist told me this was normal and the pain would gradually subside. Gradually since that day July 9 2016 a pronounced tingling sensation in my right finger and middle finger has gradually gotten worse. There is numbness and lack of sensitivity which is increasing and since I am not wealthy or employed I do not have many avenues to take if it costs money. I do however have Medicare and private insurance. I have tried a chiropractor and immediately he went to the spot that the original pain was noticed he then sent me to our local hand clinic and a nerve study was done and I am currently attempting physical therapy but simply have not achieved any relief. Additionally I have a number of health issues and am concer Ned that my life is about over since I am very mechanical inclined and need full use of my hands I am a artist too. I understand the inherently dicciculity of trying to diagnose such a complaint. My main fear is if this goes on too long I will have long term problems. My right index finger is worse than my miffle finger and now my thumb have lost strength noticeably to the point of being nearly useless compared to my original condition prior to the CPR. I am fairly certain that the CPR did in fact damage the nerve under my right shoulder or scapular. I am a normally a robust and strong and reasonably intelligent man. I enjoy life and want to be active and contribute more than I can now. What can you suggest, if anything, for my needs. God Bless, Tony Knotts Sr.
