Thanks. I awoke this a.m. with pain in my lower right-side back, kidney area. Certain movements - like getting dressed - increased the pain, and the added symptom of slight abdominal cramping led me away from thinking this was muscle-related. I took 440 mg. of naproxen, moved through the pain, and a few hours later sat in a car. In a seated position, with the car going over bumps increased the pain, and brought me to the edge of nausea. Pain and nausea subsided, and I spent several hours walking and standing (in a museum). Symptoms decreased significantly during these hours. During the one-hour car ride home (sitting), the pain resumed. Upon return home, I experience severe pain, found that standing provided some relief. With assistance, I took another 440 mg. naproxen, and applied moist heat to the area. Remaining standing, having hot tea and eating, the pain greatly diminished. After an hour or more, I sat. Within half-an-hour, the acute, severe pain resumed. I still have the sense that my kidney rather than back muscle is involved. I have never before had kidney stones, years ago had a brief kidney infection, routinely drink non-cafinated, sugarless fluids throughout the day. I am still experiencing the severe pain which flared again 1/2 hr. ago.
