The Back Of My Daughter's Left Foot Has Been Hurting

The back of my daughter's left foot has been hurting her since December. She didn't tell her college basketball coach or trainer until January. The trainer, without there being any x-rays, ct's or mri's performed, concluded that it was her achilles tendon....she then began therapy with the trainer, however, her practice activities were not limited. I requested that she have x-rays or mri done as well as asked about modifying her practice activities, but was told that neither was necessary. She has been home for the summer since 5/14 and was sent home with a therapy plan. Things were going well until this past Friday, June 3, she noticed an apparent knot/bump on the back of her heel that had not been there before and that area is darker than the same area on the right foot. She further stated that after her home therapy session on Thursday, her heel was irritatingly sore....so much so that she cannot wear a shoe that has a back without it hurting her...it also hurts when she walks. I then thought that just maybe it isn't her achilles. The more we talked, she told me the pain has always been at the back of heel, not the apparent area of the achilles. What could this condition be? What do you recommend that we do? My email address is YYYY@YYYY
