Throat Pain With Ulcer. Recently Quit Smoking. Virus Suspected. On Antibiotics. No Relief. Been Advised A Throat X-ray.
Hi, I am 22 years old and recently quit smoking. I smoked for about 5years. A day before I quit my throat was really sore so I stopped smoking. Its going on 10 weeks now of having a sore throat. Ive been to the ER and an ENT twice. First time ER said it was a virus. 2 weeks later I go to ENT he sees a throat ulcer and says its healing come back in a month (because virus infections can last 6weeks+ he says) if it still is bothering me. A month later it still hurts i go back he sees nothing has no clue why im having the pain. I asked him to give me an antibiotic. Week of being on it (10 day prescription of 875mg) still no change. ENT said theres no way quitting smoking could still be bothering my throat this long I don't know. I don't have insurance and can't afford to do the X-rays of throat he suggested. He wants to send me to another doctor. Hopefully I explained my situation well enough this is just a shot in the dark I don't really know what to do. Also I have only pain in my throat. Some days worse than others but I'm unaffected in any other way. It seems to be my whole throat but Ulcer was on the left side.

in my opinion ot is sinusitis
as the recurence occur in sinuses
there is post nasal drip of mucus in sinuses and this falls in throat causin throst infections off and on and ulcers r bumps in throat
a short corse of sinus specific antibiotic like metronidazole helpto clear infection
use antiallergic tab ebastine for long to reduce sinus mucus production and thus fall in throat
an additio of antacid can prvent reflux to keep pharynx clesr
triamsole mouth paint on throat can reduce pain and ulcers
neomycin h ointment in nose bd and sea water 2 drop at night each nose can prevent recurent sinusitis
