Thyroid TPO Is High. Brain Affected. Forgets Things. Suggested Steroid Treatment. Any Side Effect?
This is for my mother : Receitly we tested her thyroid TPO it is very high 834/mg, it affected her brain. She forgot the thing very fast, what she did, where she kept, what she said earlier etc. Doctor suggesting steroid treatment. please give me the effects of high TPO and steroid treatment.
TPO are antibodies geared towards the thyroid gland, and tend to cause initially high thyroid function, but then on the long run low thyroid function, which certainly can have memory problems and slow thinking as a symptoms. The most important treatment though, is to regulate the thyroid, whether by giving or supressing thyroid hormones. Steroids could be adjuvant if there is thyroid inflammation, but again, the most important issue is to treat the thyroid
