Thyroid Blood Test Done. What Should Be Done For An Underactive Thyroid?
My wife lives in Peru . She went to Es Salud - national health center - for emergencies. She has a problem making an apointment with a specialist. So she went to the emergency department . She has some thyroid blood test results from Swiss Lab: 0.9 with the normal being 0 to 4. Any suggestions? What should she do about an underactive thyroid? Natan
I believe the test you are mentioning is the level of free T4. 0.9 is on lower end and would not need a treatment in usual circumstances. I would advise getting a TSH level on her. If it is more than 10 or if it rises over time, MD can start Thyroxine treatment.
