Thyroid Test Done. Shows High TSH Levels. Treatment Options Other Than Medication?
i am XXXXXXX,age 20 female.I had my thyroid test and my report says that i have thyroid as tsh is 6.50uIU/mL, and i am nt satisfied with my test report. i have not yet started my medicine s.i need to ask you that is it neccesary to have medicine. is there no options to avoid medicine because once i started medicine it will never stops.
Thanks a lot your question. What are your free hormones (Free T4)? If your free hormones are normal and TSH is high then this condition is called subclinical hypothyroidism. If you do not have symptoms related to underactive thyroid disease we can repeat thyroid function test in 2-3 months again to see the TSH trend.
On the other hand if you do have symptoms of thyroid disease then treatment is indicated with low dose thyroid hormone.
