US of thyroid showed: both lobes normal size and mildly irregular heterogeneous; 4 nodules measuring .8 x .3 x .6cm, .5 x .4 x .3 cm, .7x .2 x .8 cm and .4 x .2 x .3 cm. all nodules described as hypoechoic, sharply defined, no halo, no calcium. PCP is sending me to specialist but can't get an appointment for 5 weeks. Have had first two nodules for at least 5 years (1 has gotten little larger, other little smaller). Other two nodules are new, within last year. Age 62, female. Otherwise in good health. How concerned should I be and is 5 weeks to long to wait to see doctor.
