Thyroid Was High, Did Blood Test. Was Told Large Mass On Left And Right Side. Meaning? Help?
Hell I my name is ashley I am 21 years old. My thyroid has been really big for a few months so I went to the docs an they did a blood test that came back abnormal so they sent me to the radiologist to get an ultrasound and the doc calls me back in to discuss the results in person and they said they found a large mass on the left side and a small mass on the right side. What does that mean? Now they want me to get a biopsy on both sides and get radioactive iodine. What is that going to do? Please tell me what to expect. Thyroid problems run in my family.
Your USG report suggests that There is large mass in left side and small mass in left side. There are various differential diagnosis of mass in thyroid gland. It may be any tumour(benign or malignant),inflammatory mass, cyst etc. Exact nature of mass can be confirmed by FNAC.Your doctor has suggested rightly. Radioiodine study should also be done.
