Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Today, due to pain and I have a very high pain tolerance, I noticed a lump about the size of the silly putty case. I had noticed in the past couple of months that I sometimes had some pain and a different feeling in my neck but brushed it off. It is painful to talk especially in a louder voice. The bulge is more to the left of my neck and when I turn my head to the right side is when I can really feel it, not by touching but actually pulling in my neck. I do have hypothyroidism that I keep very controlled! I have a very strict diet as I do not eat out ever! I am 49 years old and maintain a very healthy weight of 106 pounds as I am only 5 feet. I do have thyroid nodules but I have gone from 7 down to 4 ever since starting my thyroid meds a few years ago. Thyroid cancer does run in my family! I never worry about medical situations as I have been through my own medical nightmare and can typically figure it out but this one has me stumped. I do not want to go to the doctor as I don't like going ever since everything I have been through but I did schedule an appointment for the 18th. I would like to get your advice on whether or not you believe I am ok waiting or if I should go to the walk-in at my doctors office in the morning? Thank you!
