There is no such thing as lesser complications in children. Tonsillectomy is usually indicated in children if they have recurrent respiratory tract infections and complications of them. In adults the cause of tonsillitis may be different like smoking induced changes, cancerous and pre-cancerous changes etc. In children healing is faster in most cases and they do not smoke or have bad food habits which can impair immunity and delay would healing.
