Took Malarone. Suffer Runny Nose, Heavy Sneezing, Headache And Cough. Could This Be Malaria?

We returned from Kenya last week. We took Malarone throughout our stay and for 7 days after returning to the UK.
My daughter now has cold like symptoms: very runny nose, heavy sneezing, headache, cough. Not a noticeable temperature though. Could this be malaria or is it just a cold? She has been unwell for about 48 hours.

Hi thanks for using HCM.

These are not the symptoms of malaria. You need not to worry for malaria as you have taken right prophylactic measures.

The symptoms look like common cold. Ask her to do salt water gargle, steam inhalation and NSAID like aceclofenac for inflammation and antihistamine like levo cetrizine will help her. If symptom persists or if she develops fever then consult your doctor for examination and further management.

Wish you good health.

Regards
