Hello,
You say that you are medically induced diabetic. I realize that the medication you mean is
prednisone. What is the indication for taking prednisone 60 mg every day. As long as you take prednisone it is difficult to control your
diabetes condition. Prednisone is commonly used for a short term purpose only, whatever may be the indiction.
Regarding diabetics you say that you check your blood for sugar before going to bed and then take
insulin. First of all you must understand the facts regarding inj insulin. There are 2 types of insulin 1) Long acting 2) Short acting.
For you - you must be taking long acting insulin.
Insulin is to be taken in an empty stomach and that too 30 to 45 mts before food.
It takes 30 to 45 mts for its molecule to divide and act. If you want to check your blood sugar it must be done 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours after your food. This is called as post prandial blood sugar or you can do a pre prandial blood sugar in an empty stomach in the morning after 10 hours of
starvation from night.
By this method only you can assess your diabetic condition.
Discuss with your Dr regarding the steps to stop prednisone and how to take inj insulin.
I hope you understand that
With good wishes
