Took Aldactone. Noticed Bags Under My Eyes, Visible Veins Through Thigh And Abdomen. Had Sclerotherapy. Underlying Cause?

Hi, just a query, I was taking aldactone for 6 months at 100mg and since coming off I have noticed bags under my eyes and very visible green veins through my thigh and my abdomen, it is unsightly. Doctors keep telling me that since I have been off aldactone for 10 months I no longer have any side effects from this drug, I am not convinced! I have gone back on the BCP Dianne and have had sclerotherapy for spider veins since coming off, but I'm not sure what is causing these symptoms. Please can you help?

Welcome to HCM,

Aldactone is a diuretic, means water pill. You are getting above symptoms because you have stopped taking medication. I felt by your question that you were taking Aldactone for Androgenic Acne. Did you underwent Investigation for liver disease, kidney disease and Electrolyte disturbances before you started Aldactone. if you have not done, i would advise you to go for these investigations, and rule out any underlying cause for your problems.
In any case for the side effects of Aldactone, the effects of all its metabolite finish within 5 days.
