Took Antibiotics After Diagnosed With Lyme Disease. How To Proceed Further With Treatment?
My husband has been diagnosed with Lyme Disease and just started an antibiotic. After 30 days he has to see our primary physician. That's not until January 9th. In the meanwhile, he's in a lot of pain. We have very little information on the disease and I don't feel we should wait until January to learn about the disease or what we need to do.
Hi, Thanks for writing in. Lyme disease is caused by bacterial infection with Borrellia species. It involves joints, skin and nervous system.Skin rashes can be chronic with months of waxing waning course. It is easily treated with antibiotics.Once you have been started on proper antibiotics there is no need to worry.Disease does not progress after antibiotic course.
Hope this helps. Regards. DR Sudarshan MD Dermatology
