Tooth Ache Due To The Improper Alignment Of Wisdom Tooth. Surgery Necessary? Can It Be Filled?
Hi Doctor, I have a mild tooth ache from last 4-5 months, i consulted a doctor and she said i need to operate my wisdom tooth as it is not in the proper position and needs to be taken out. The wisdom tooth on both the sides are in same inclined position but i have pain on only right side. This is creating a gap in between chew and wisdom teeth and causing cavity. Is it necessary to operte it or can it be done with filling and medicines?
hello and welcome to hcm,
your dentist is right i feel.as your wisdom tooth is improperly aligned,it can cause food lodgement and therby decay of the tooth.it is better to remove the tooth at the earliest.otherwise the caries can spread into periapical region and can cause complications.
the extraction of tooth will be complicated, once the decay progresses.because it can cause fracture of root due to decay in it.
it cannot be treated by filling and medicines as all these are temporary solutions and will worsen the condition.
take care.no need to become panic to remove the tooth.
hi mukulmonga,
sorry to say but your dentist is right you have to extract your wisdom teeth impacted wisdom teeth can result in pain, damage to other teeth and other dental problems. In some cases, impacted wisdom teeth may cause no apparent or immediate problems. But because they're hard to clean, they may be more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease than other teeth are.
take care

hi ,i think same as your doctors says get wisdom tooth removed .Since it is causing pain and cavity is already formed so conditions will worsen slowly.Fillings and medicine can postpone your problem for sometime but problem can recur again soon so it is advised to get it operated.
hello
yes sir your wisdom tooth need to be extracted
wisdom tooth do not carry any function so removing
it will not harm you ,its an extra tooth.generaly we do
not extract it if it not causing any problem but in
your case its harmin your adjacent teeth so it best adviced to
remove it.it is a small surgical procedure with no harm
so dont panic at all

Hi, Welcome to HCM forum, As your wisdom teeth is inclined and applying pressure on other tissues, adjacent teeth so better go for its extraction. Problems like toothache, swelling, jaw pain, difficultly in eating etc are related with wisdom teeth. And it is meant to be an extra tooth in our dentition so better get relief from these problems by extracting it. Maintain oral hygiene otherwise food debris wiill accumulate under the flap covering wisdom teeth and will worsen your condition. Wishing you recovery soon Take care
hi... thanks for the query... i just want to inform you that nowadays dentists prefer conservative treatment i.e. preserving the tooth instead of extraction... but its opposite in case of wisdom teeth... they hardly play any good role in our mouth and its better to get them extracted so as to avoid any complication in future... and you have inclined teeth on top of that... so please get rid of them and go for their extraction... no fillings and no medicines... take care...
I would like to tell you that wisdom tooth does not have any significant role in the mastication and occlussion, so i would suggest you to get it extarcted if causing any trouble. I would encourage you to visit the Oral Surgeon and get the checkup done take an OPG radiograph and plan for the extraction. Take complete course of antibiotics and analgesics. Take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
Hi thanks for the query , As your wisdom teeth is not properly aligned and is causing pain so extraction is advisable. Wisdom teeth are supposed to be the extra teeth which serve no role . So better consult your dentist for extraction of it because taking pain killers and antibiotics is not the definitive treatment. maintain oral hygiene. take care
