Tooth Infection, Amoxicillin, Swelling On Right Side Of Face. Pinched Nerve?

Hi I am a 29 year old female who is has and infection in the root of a tooth and has been on amoxicillian for the last three days. No allergies . But over the last few hours the side of my face that my teeth that need to be taken out on has become slightly swollen, cannot shut eye by itself, almost like the muscles aren t working, there is no numbness or pain and the eye looks fine, vision is fine and the eye follows on it s own when following the tip of a finger left and right. Please help. Could this be a pinched nerve? or a stroke? One side of my face isn t as responsive and its the side that the bad teeth are on.

You have underlying infection of the maxilla/ gingiva. It is because of infection and surrounding edema that your face is swollen. Possibly amoxyllin is not effective. You need a broad spectrum antibiotic with anti inflammatory drugs ( non steroidal) to reduce the swelling. If you are thinking of extraction of the tooth never get it done till the infection and swelling is there.Your dentist is the right person to take care of your problem. With the right treatment everything will be alright. There is possiblity of pressure on the nerves giving the problem you are complaining of which will be alright once the swelling subsides.

your present swelling is because of the infected tooth which you said is to be removed . Amoxacillin is not working on your condition and you need a more advanced antibiotic and pain killers. this swelling will go gradually and you need to take some precautions like , do not eat or give pressure on that side. Do not sleep on that side of face else it might increase your swelling.consult your dental surgeon for change of your medications. It can be possible that if possible Root canal Treatment can also help you combat infection .

hi
pain along with swelling is clearly indicating infection with pus. and also amoxycillin is not working here. go for a checkup as soon as you can. in the mean while. take following-
Cap-cephalexin+clavulanic acid three times a day
tab metronidazole 400mg three times a day
tab aceclofenac+pcm+serratiopeptidase three times a day
avoid pressing that area or giving any warmth to that area in form of warm cloth or towel
dont sleep on that side
drink lot of water
go to your dentist as soon as you can

hi ,
this is all due to the periapical infection under the root of the tooth. you need to go to a dentist to manage this tooth, before extraction this tooth need to be opened for drainage of puss to reduce the swelling and abscess.
also you will need to use pain killer and antibiotic in combination therapy. regards.

Do not panic, as the tooth might be having abscess and has resulted in swelling . a thorough check up can only give 100% confirmation, so visit your dentist asap. till then, take one combination of antiinflammatory and analgesic drug. apply ice pack and do not chew from that side.

as you said you are on an antibiotic course since three days and still you have swelling and pain,it means that antibiotic is not working, so please go to your dentist and ask to get it be changed...........
and this swelling is because of pus and infection.........
i will suggest you please do not eat anything from that side and sleed to the opposite side not to that side.......

It seems to be a spread of infection(cellulitis). Incision and drainage, antibiotic therapy including anaerobic coverage andremoval of infected teeth are the treatments and should be done as soon as possible.
