Toothache, Gingivitis, Numbness In Cheek, Lower Lip. Tooth Extraction Cannot Be Done. Treatment?
I went to the dentist 2 days ago cos I am having a toothache and its quite painful. The dentist said I had gingivitis and the tooth extraction cannot be done. She issued me an antibiotic and pain reliever. After my 2nd take of antibiotic, I feel numbness on my cheek and lower lip (the cheek part where I had the bad teeth causing me pain). Is the numbness normal?
Hi,
I have read you problem.First of all, if you have gingivitis, treat it. Go to your dentist and ask him/her for scaling(teeth cleaning)Scaling is a better treatment for gingivitis and bad breath. After that you can go for tooth extraction. stop antibiotic course if u feel side effect from it. also do warm saline rinse 3-4 times a day.do brush properly twice a day. also u can use antiseptic mouthwash.
hello and welcome,
the numbness is due to the intake of analgesic which is a pain reliever.the tooth with pain has to be treated by pulp capping/root canal treatment.if the tooth cannot be saved,it should be extracted.as your dentist has said you have gum infection or gingivitis, get your teeth professionly cleaned.
visit your dentist as the pain will re-occur once the medicines are stopped.
take care.
After reading your clinical symptoms i would suggest you to go for the treatment of gingivitis first followed by the extraction of the tooth. I would suggest you to visit the Dentist and get the complete mouth scaling and polishing done.
As the prescribed antibiotics are not suiting you get it changed by the Dentist, after that you can plan for the extraction of the tooth.
Maintain a good oral hygiene, take lukewarm saline and antiseptic mouthwash rinses.
hello
if you cannot undergo extraction due to gingivitis undergo
scaling.use mouthwashe twice daily.this wil lower infection
of your gums.antibiotics does not cause numbness so kindly
inform your dentist about it .

Gingivitis is inflammation of gums. Therefore, it should be treated first before doing any extractions.
If the prescribed antibiotics is causing discomfort to you like numbness you can go for alternative antibiotics and analgesics after discussing it with your dentist.
Hope i have answered your query please let us know.
Hope it helps.
Thanks.
Take care.
