Traces Of Urobilinogen Quali In Urine, Blood Tests Show Normal Bilrubin Count With High CO2, HDL Cholesterol. Analysis?

There are traces of Urobilinogen Quali in my urine but blood results show my total Bilirubin is normal at 0.59 mg/dL and my Creatinine (blood) is likewise normal at 1.09 mg/dL. All the rest of my blood test results are normal except Carbon Dioxide , at 31.00meq/L and HDL Cholesterol, at 73.51 mg/dl. What do these tell me?

HELLO AND WELCOME TO HCM,

Urobilinogen in urine should have some concern. But after coming positive in urine, clinicians usually advise to do a blood bilirubin to rule out any liver diseases.
As your blood bilirubin is normal, there should not be any concern of a disease.
Since urine examination is done on analyzer which functions on a prinicple of colour change, it can give false positive results.

So, you should not worry and repeat a urine examination to check whether the urobilinogen is consistently present in urine. And please ask the laboratory to confirm the positive result by manual method also.

Regards,
Dr. Ramesh
