Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My seven year old daughter just had a sharp chest pain on he left hand side. She says is happens on a regular basis but that this time it was the worse ever. She was not running or playing anything active but was excited when it happened (and it happened in front of me). She is totally fine now and it only lasted for a few seconds but I am very concerned. I am going to make a doctor apointment for her asap but should I be more concerned at this very moment? Never mind ... we have a free health links phone number to call in Canada ... I will use that.
There could be several causes for that. A cardiac condition should be ruled out if the pain is on the left side. Injury locally can also be a cause of such pain. Conditions like costochondritis, pluresy can cause chest pain. A physical examination is necessary to identify the diagnosis. Various investigations like ECG, x ray chest etc may be required. I suggest you to consult your doctor for a physical examination. He will order laboratory investigations depending on the physical examination findings. Management depends on the investigation reports.
Continue to ask further queries as required. Hope this helps. Take care.
