Treatment For Red, Swollen Tendonititus Scar

I have a 7 year old tendonititus scar that is fully healed but in the past couple of days it has become red and swollen and it feels like there is a hard knot under the skin right under the scar tissue. It hurts like it used to before I had the tendonititus surgery, what is going on??

Hi.
As per your case history pain on scar, my treatment advice is -
1. You are probably having acute infection of the scar.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take a NSAID like ibuprofen for pain and swelling.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
