Two years ago we had our daughter seen by a pediatric cardiologist. Us and the doctor had come to the conclusion of SVT, but we needed to catch it on monitor. We never could with the holter. Her symptoms have changed slightly. Its not beating as fast ( would go over 200 bpm), but now it has periods where it beats very HARD, while she is at rest. Like when you just get done running and your heart feels like its going to beat out of your chest? Thats what hers feels like. She has also struggled with UTIs, and most recently in the past month has had an e. coli infection, stomach flu, and now strep throat. My mom, dad and I all have MVP, and my aunt has another heart condition whose name i can't think of right now but it makes it easier for her to get infections. Our general pediatrician does not seem to think there is any correlation. I am simply not satisfied with that answer. I think there is something going on, as we have two other children, and they are hardly ever sick. She is in the 50% percentile for weight, and the 25th for height. How do you recommend we proceed? Not sure if we should see the pediatric cardiologist again ( we live in the middle of KS and the closest one is 4 hours away) or if there is a different specialist we should be seeing? I don't WANT to have to go to a specialist, but I just cant ignore my gut feeling that something is amiss.
