The ultrasound scan reveals that a gestation sac is present in the uterus.
However, the fetus developing in the gestational sac is not normal.
An ovum or fetus without cardiac activity at this stage is called blighted ovum.
This implies that the conceptus is not viable, has some abnormalities (most often chromosomal) and will not develop further till term.
So, the next step is medical termination of the pregnancy as it is not viable.
The procedure should be carried out as soon as possible as complications increase as the period of gestation increases.
Consult your gynecologist at the earliest.
Thanks and take care.
