Unable To Reach Orgasm During Sex Due To Clitoris Not Hardening Up. On Citalopram Fro Pmt. Is Pill Injection Recommended?
Hi. My clitoris doesn't get hard anymore and cannot reach an orgasm. I get aroused and enjoy sex but I just no longer climax. Could it be citalopram I'm taking? I take it for pmt. if I stop taking the medication and go on the pill injection will I start to reach orgasms again? Will this contraception help with pmt? Thank you.
Hello, I would be happy to help you with your question.
There is no doubt that sometimes medications used for depression (or PMT) are associated with sexual dysfunction. The condition that you are describing is called anorgasmia. If there was not a problem before, then it is likely that this function will resume after stopping this medication. There are quite a few others to choose from, so talk with your doctor about the options.
I hope that this helps and good luck!

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM. Citalopram ids an SSRI known to cause sexual dysfunction like anorgasmia (trouble achieving orgasm). You can stop taking this only by your doctor's advice. Contraception pill regularise your cycle and sexual hormone levels, and if your problem is due to imbalance in hormone levels then that can be prevented and you can stop taking this drug. Pre menstrual tension is a normal phenomenon. So discuss with your treating doctor about the problem and then get adjusted for drug or dose. Consult your doctor for examination and management. Hope I answered your question. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
Regards Dr. Lohit
