Under Birth Control For A Long Time Irregular Periods Brown Colored Discharge For Few Days
Hi I took birth control for about 2 years toward the end I started having pains during or after intercourse. I also started having very irregular periods sometimes less than a week sometimes over a week. I had to completely stop due to my loss of insurance and ability to pay for it. I still have intercourse and use condoms. On Oct 31st I started to have a brown discharge that lasted about 8 or 9 days then the next day I started having bad cramps and a regular red color period with dark red chunks. It has lasted 4 days so far. What could be wrong?
Hi, Your menstrual history suggests a hormonal imbalance triggered by the use of hormonal contraception. The present complaint may or may not be related; condoms have a high failure rate and if you can, please get a blood test for pregnancy along with a trans-vaginal sonogram to exclude/confirm pregnancy. You would also need a complete evaluation by a gynecologist to exclude local causes of the bleeding and further management. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
