Under Treatment For Depression, Anxiety, BP. Personal Research Finds Symptoms Related To Elevated Cortisol Levels. Give Me Suggestion
Hi,
I have just come out of a very traumatic period in my life and am being treated for depression, anxiety and am on blood pressure tablets. Having done some research on the internet, the symptoms/ailments etc., that I have suffered seem to be associated with elevated levels of cortisol. How do I explain this to my doctor and can he help me with it. Thank you for your time
The stress of going through a traumatic time can increase the cortisol levels in the body which can then cause depression, anxiety and other signs and symptoms. But factors other than stress may also be responsible for increased cortisol levels, like tumors in the pituitary or adrenal glands, and should be ruled out. In my opinion, just tell your doctor that you would like to get your serum cortisol levels measured. If that comes to be significantly high, then your doctor will suggest further investigations.
Hope this helps you. Best wishes.
