Underwent Heart Bypass, Getting Shocks. Injected With Cardrone. Normal Healing Process?
Hi My father had a heart bypass surgery in July 2012 and an ICD (from St. Jude Medical) was also implanted then. He was fine for initial few months and then he would get shocks from the ICD implanted. This became more frequent recently (one every 15 days) and he was injected with cardrone recently to make things better. His latest Ejection fraction recorded is 37. It was 25 before the surgery. Is this a normal healing process after surgery or we may be overlooking something? He is 66 years old and is slim. Regards Singh
hello,
welcome to HCM,
as per the details u have submitted,
it is clearly showing that your father is getting dangerous ventricular arrythmias , thats why the ICD (implantable cardioverter defib) is giving shocks to regularize the heart rythm.. so i advise you to consult a cardiologist and take the opinion in this regard..
he will be monitored throgh a holter monitoring system ...and he will be treated accordingly..
coming to the ejection fraction , your father has low ejection fraction before surgery , becoz of weak ventricular myocardium , which has became weak due to reduced blood supply by heart attack, now he has underwent bypass, and ejection farction has improved...
hope i have cleared ur querries...
