Upper Lip Is Swollen And Dry. No Allergies. Advice?
My upper lip is lightly swollen and very dry (as if chapped) - but not cracked. I haven't eaten anything different. It 1st occured about a month ago after coming back from a cruise. Thought it may have been sun burned after it went away after a few days. It reocurred this week out of the blue. I'm 49, in good medical health and have no known allergies. Thoughts?
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your description, the possibilities include a lip lick chelitis( if you have had dry lips and got into the habit of licking your lips after the sun burn), actinic cheilitis and granulomatoys cheilitis. It is better to consult your doctor to get a close examination done and also a biopsy if required. You could use a sunscreen every 3 hours , avoid licking your lips, take sips of water and look if it improves. Hope this helped. Take care.
