What Causes Mucus In Throat And Periodically Bleeding Chapped Lips?
i had step throat and took a full course of antibiotics prescribed to me by a doc... the sore throat and cough are both gone, but i feel as though i still have mucus in my throat and i have been having very chapped lips for the last 2-3 weeks...to the point where my lips have 3 cuts at the ends of the lips on each side that bleed periodically. i take synthroid for hypothyroid, and have needed iron supplements in the past as i try not to eat red meats. any ideas?
I hope the thyroid functions are repeated and the doses adjusted to the new readings and clinical improvement as hypothyroidism can cause many problems like late healing. Feeling of mucus indicates that there is still hypertrophy of the mucus membrane producing more mucus in response to the healing part and should be taken care by using anti-inflammatory like Serratiopeptidase and decongestants.
Have Povidone iodine gargles. Plenty of warm fluids. Avoid hot, spicy and oily foods. Avoid allergens that increase mucus production. As for the chapped lips the cause may be dried up lips hence use lip moisturizer. Continue treatment for anemia if still present and have additional multivitamins, mineral and trace elements for proper healing.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
