Urologist Diagnosed For Prostitis. Took Bacterium For Six Weeks And Doctor Switched To Cipro. Is Rectal Burning A Part Of Prostitis Or Side Effects Of Antibiotics?

Yes. I was diagnosed with prostatitis by my urologist 2 months ago. I took Bactrim for 6 weeks, and got some relief, but developed rectal burning, which seemed to get worse after I took the pill. My doctor then switched me to Cipro. I was on the Cipro for 10 days, and started develping the same rectal buring, which seemed to get worse after I took the pill. I can't tell weather my prostitis is gone or not, for I have a huge amount of rectal burning now. I seem to be urinating easier and with less urgency, but I no idea whether the intense rectal burning is part of prostatitis which is not going away, or a side effect of the antibiotics.

Urologist 's  Response
Good Day!

I don't think the antibiotic is causing your rectal pain/discomfort. It may still be part of the prostatitis that you have suffered. I would suggest getting a 4 glass Tamey test to possibly determine the organism that is causing your prostatitis. I will also suggest to take pain medications as this will also help decrease the pain and swelling of the organs affected (prostate and rectum).
