Ask me a Question »
Hi,
Welcome to HCM,
I am glad that your husband stopped smoking and for which he must be complemented.
We must know the source of blood and certainly it is not normal and it is not because of Nicorette gums.
Please do not go by his suggestion and please visit good Internal medicine specialist or Chest Physician there are many causes for blood which may be coming from gums if he has bad gums pyorrhea, a
dentist or Periodontist may be required,
Other chest condition like
Tuberculosis, Chronic bronchitis and
bronchogenic carcinoma (Cancer) all are just possibilities and once he is examined by Physician proper investigations like OPG, an X ray chest,
Complete blood count with smear picture with coagulation profile
Bleeding time, Clotting time and PT. depending on result of such investigation if required a CT scan chest or Bronchoscopy may be required.
Once cause is detected it can be treated accordingly.
You should not ignore this and get to physician as soon as possible.
We can hope nothing serious comes there and it can be treated so please take care.
Good Luck.
