Using Tenovate, Clobetasol For Itching Due To Eczema. Patches Near Ankle. Treatment?

Hi, I have been having eczema problem for quite some years now (around 10 yrs). Initially it was not of any concern as it used to appear and subside. Later it started to itch , i used Tenovate oinment, clobetasol cream BP to keep it at bay and this helped to some extent. Now for a last couple of years i have found it to be slowly increasing its area and locations and Tenovate may not seem to work much. These patches are on both my feet , near the ankle area. Presently in small patches of 2cm to 4cm size. I have found new such patch coming up ut one of my knee and elbow. They itch severly till the dead skin is peeled off. What would you suggest me to treat it with?

Hi,

It seems that you are having dry eczema..lichen simplex chronicus.

The skin in lesion is thick, black and severely itchy.

There may be many causes.

Contactants like soap,dust,housedust mite,pollens,cosmetics,clothes,wool,grass,
Perfume..so on...

Dietary factors like cow milk, peas and nuts, sea food, eggs, colored drinks, fermented food..etc might exacerbate the lesions.

Inhalants like fume,pollutants,perfume..etc may be responsible.

I feel, you may be having atopic diathesis.

Stress and mental upsets may worsen the condition.

Antihistaminics like levocetirizine reduces itch sensation.

Steroids in tappering dose would be very helpful in relieving the disease.

If there is bacterial infection, add antibiotics.

Apply steroid cream for long time.

If needed, intradermal steroid injection may be taken.

Keep the skin moist with moisturiser.

Consult dermatologist.

I hope you got my answer.

Thanks.
