Very Stiff Knee Joints. No Help From Cycling. Would Cod Liver Oil Help?

I am a fifty year old man and have very stiff joints, especially my knees. I am trying to do some gardening but find it difficult, quite painful at times. I work locally to where I live and cycle a short distance every day. I thought this would be good exercise and help make my joints more flexible but not so. Would cod liver oil or something similar be of any assistance?
