Violent Seizures. Shoulder Stabilization Done. On Pain Medication. Side Effect? Need Surgery?

Hi my name is Carole I have a 17 year old son he had a shoulder stabilisation done yesterday he also had the same surgery 5 months ago on the other shoulder that surgery went fine yesterdays did not he seems to have a problem with pain medication and seizures he did have two violent seizures early yesterday morning with a cardio arrest and the doctors really haven't seen anything as bad as this before .I need to find out what could be causing this because at some stage in his life he will need surgery that is a scary thought.

Hi,
Thank you for posting your query.
There are several good medications to prevent recurrence of seizures. These include levetiracetam, valproate, carbamazepine, etc. Also I assume that his MRI of brain is normal.
Regarding acute control of violent seizures, he can be treated with intravenous injections of midazolam or lorazepam.
For pain relief, we can use ibuprofen, diclofenac, etc. It is better to avoid tramadol, as it can increase the risk of seizures.
