Vision Problem. Had Stye On Eye. Tried Hydrogen Peroxide. Is This Permanent Damage? Suggest Remedy?
I stupidly tried to help get rid of a stye on my eye with hydrogen peroxide and got some in contact with my eyeball which started burning pretty badly. I casually splashed a couple handfulls of water into it and it stayed irritated feeling and red, and after a couple of days have noticed major vision problems.. Is this permanent? What am I supposed to do?
Hydrogen peroxide in the eye causes a kind of chemical injury to the cornea of the eye. Constant washing of the eye with copious water is mandatory. Since you are noticing vision problems you have to visit an ophthalmologist who will have to assess the extent of damage to the cornea and prescribe treatment in the form of eye drops and ointment. Make an appointment with the eye doctor early to start treatment and restore vision.
