Voice Becoming Hoarse While Singing, Shouting, Drinking Alcohol, Difficulty In Talking And Being Heard. Curable?
Hi, I would like to know what conditions a person could have that would make then easily hoarse and if it s cureable. I am hoarse more than 70% of the time, If i shout, sing, talk alot, stay out late, drink alchohol, etc I get hoarse. I don t experience any pain or soarness when I swallow . I just a difficulty talking and being heard. Can you help?
Hi.
There is a long list of causes of hoarseness. You should consult an ENT surgeon. If you have already done that with a negative ENT examination, then get thyroid hormone level checked to rule out hypothyroidism. If that's normal, then get upper GI endoscopy to look for acid reflux ('GERD'). If that is also normal, then get a repeat ENT check-up (with a span of ~ 1 month between 2 check-ups).
Importantly, the factors you have mentioned in your symptoms such as shouting, talking a lot, drink alcohol etc. are all responsible individually/collectively for hoarseness! Avoid them for a specific trial period such as over a couple of months or so and see the result for yourself!
Wish you all the best.
