Vomiting And Diarrhea, Severe Muscle Pain In Hips, Legs, Back And Shoulder, Fever. Is This Gastrointestinal Issue ?
My 18 year old daughter was up last night with vomiting and diarrhea. She is now experiencing severe muscle pain in her hips, legs, back, and shoulders along with those areas feeling warm to the touch. She has a low grade fever. The pain is equally uncomfortable whether she is moving or still. She is an equestrian athlete and has been riding and caring for horses on a daily basis for the past 6 weeks (living on a horse farm 75 miles from our home). She went water skiing and tubing on a lake in western NY this past Thursday. She and her roommate have been eating the same foods and her roommate is symptom free. She managed to drive to my home, but is having difficulty getting around. Is there anything specific (symptoms) that I should be watching for? Do you think this is most likely a gastrointestinal issue? I welcome any advice you might have. Thank you for your help, AAAAA
Hi Dear Welcome to the board of Health care Magic Dear friend Your daughter has vomiting and loose motions last night. This is an obvious cause of electrolyte loss from her.
Which in turn has developed in to electrolyte imbalance in her body. She is feeling muscle cramps and pains just because of electrolyte imbalance.
In my opinion she should take plenty of (ORS) oral rehydration solution in sip by sip manner, gradually in day or two she will be alright.
