Hello!

Thank you for the query.

It can be lactose intolerance indeed. It can be also intolerance any other part of food. The symptoms should go away with elimination diet (eliminating lactulose should stop the symptoms - you can try it if you are certain about lactulose intolerance).

However your symptoms can be also caused by chronic bacterial infection, pancreas problem or even partial bowels obstruction due to Crohns disease or colon cancer (if you are over the age of 50). With this conditions you may also have abdominal pain, weight loss, weakness, low hemoglobin level.

I suggest you to visit your doctor and have some more tests. Blood work, liver tests, amylase, stool test, stool culture test, abdominal ultrasound should be done. Colonoscopy and abdominal CT with oral contrast should be also considered. You should visit gastroenterologist for proper diagnostic.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
