WHat Causes Pain In The Carotid Artery?

I have had pain in my carotid artery off and on in the last several weeks but it was much more pronounced yesterday. It is still somewhat painful today. I am a 51 year old female in good health. I do take Armour 120 mg daily for my thyroid. Is this something to be concerned about?

Hello,

I understand your concern for the pain in your neck because of carotid artery. I would ask my patients for further details of the pain and location and would ask why is it from carotid arteries only. As you are 51 years old and taking thyroid tablets, I would suggest my patients with similar problem to consult a physician for further evaluation and management.

There are various causes for that. If the pain is from carotid only, then I would suggest you to consult a physician for your check up.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Azhar Hussain
