Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
We took my 19 yo son to the emergency room late one evening after picking him up from work because we believed him to be dehydrated (outdoor concrete work). He was dizzy, shaking and vomiting. We tried to give him some amount of fluids but he couldnt keep anything down and couldnt stand up without becoming dizzy. They gave him an iv at hospital and something for nausea. When iv was complete he was feeling much better and was able to go home with a prescription for nausea medicine and a work excuse for the next day if needed. Unfortunately when we received our EOB from the insurance company they declined saying it was not medically necessary??? I dont understand why the hospital would treat if not medically necessary or why insurance company made that determination. Would appreciate some direction.
