Well, I'm concerned that i received a false negative on an HIV test which I took 32 days after possible exposure. I believe it was a fourth generation test. That's what the lab paperwork mentioned. The reason I'm doubting the veracity of the test is that now, about five weeks and three days after the possible exposure, I'm experiencing some, but not all symptoms of seroconversion illness. I've had fever, night sweat, sore throat, coughing up lots of gross phlegm, intermittent headache and bodyache. No swollen lymph nodes that i can detect, nor rash, though. I am on day four or five of whatever this sickness is, and symptoms appear to be improving. I would say i feel about 70% back to normal. Mostly i've just become concerned that i'm going through seroconversion later than usual, which would invalidate my original test result. Regardless, I plan to test again in another three months. I was briefly considering shelling out for an RNA test, but I'm somewhat worried about a false positive from such a test. I guess my question is how reasonable are my concerns? Is there any merit to them? I suppose I should also mention that my "possible exposure" would be considered low risk, as well, in that it involved giving oral sex. I'm a 25 year old male in otherwise healthy condition.
