what antidepressant is the best for controlling nerve pain of Mult Focal Motor Neurophathy without affecting sexual function in a 60 year old male who is also taking three doses of 300 mg. of gabapenin per day. At present he is on Amitryptyline 50mg per day.
Hello, Thanks for choosing health care magic for posting your query. I have gone through your question in detail and I can understand what you are going through. The amitriptyline which you are already taking is a good option to avoid the nerve pain. It has minimum sexual problems and should be a good drug. If that is not acceptable then opipromol is a new drug which can be used. However, its pain reducing function may not be as effective as amitriptyline. Hope I am able to answer your concerns. If you have any further query, I would be glad to help you. In future if you wish to contact me directly, you can use the below mentioned link: bit.ly/dr-srikanth-reddy
Wish you good health, Kind regards Dr. Srikanth Reddy M.D.
