Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I want to know if u take eltroxin 25mcg like twice a week, is it dangerous? I have gained weight over the last few years and feeling fatigue, and also feel my concentration is not as it was, of course many diagnoses can be possible and I should not try medications here and there but still I believe my thyroids are maybe the cause of not producing in off tyroxine and my metabolism is extremely slow. My diet is well balanced and I m taking very well care of clean eating. So again would it make sense to try taking a small dose of eltroxine to see if there is any improvement in my current situation
There is nothing much to be gained by taking eltroxoin just twice a week, and that too at so low a dose, especially when your thyroid hormone profile is normal. Slow metabolism is not always due to Hypothyroidism. You have not mentioned about your physical activity level. Sedentary life style will slow down your metabolism significantly. Regular and moderate exercise incorporating yoga, cardiovascular work outs and strength training should boost your metabolic rate. Be sure to take the necessary nutritional supplements too. Also, please rule out any other underlying cause for the weight gain and fatigue,if your symptoms don't improve at least a little in 2-3 weeks time.
