These, if infected during pregnancy can give rise to severe fetal defects and possibly abortion. So, it is recommended in pregnant females. ANC or ante natal checkup profile test is routinely done to evaluate the overall health of the pregnant female. They are usually screened for 1. hematological values, 2. any infections like hepatitis, syphilis or HIV, 3. urine for infections, sugar, proteins 4. Thyroid hormone levels
