Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Are Abdominal Pain, Vomiting And Increased Body Temperature Suggestive Of?
My husband has had pain in hislower abdomen for 48 hours, starting with vomiting several times in the first 24 hours and then 2 breaks of about 8 hours and then having to vomit again Because he had not had a bowel movement of any significance for over 24 hours He took an emema, which produced some bowel movement. In the last 24 hours his temp has risen to 100.7 and is at 100.5 now, He is able to keep small amounts of water down in the last 5 hours, but continue to have the discomfort in my lower abdomen and is extremely tired. Should we wait until morning to see how he is doing or is this to emergency levels?
The possible causes are appendicitis or cholecystitis or colitis or food poisoning or partial bowel obstruction or cystitis or renal stone etc.
Until the examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is.
He may need fluid replacement through a secure IV line. Get it done ultrasound abdomen, complete blood picture, serum electrolytes, and blood pressure monitoring.
Please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu, Internal Medicine Specialist
