What Are Discolored Ring Like Bruise On Arm While On Blood Thinners Suggestive Of?
Hi, I must have gotten some kind of bite on my arm, it turned black and blue in a large ring around a small center point, as if a mosquito welt, looks like a terrible bruse and coicidently I am on blood thinners. it has been a week now and slowly going away. something to worry about?
Suggestive of blood thinner induced petechiae. Petechiae are tiny, circular, non-raised patches that appear on the skin or in a mucous membrane as the result of bleeding under the skin or mucous membrane.
There is nothing to worry, since they have already started fading now. However, if they worsen you will have to consult your treating doctor to adjust the dose of blood thinners.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
