What Are Diverticulitis Symptoms?

I am experiencing a clear discharge from the rectum which rapidly irritates the skin around this area - red, itchy, swelling. This apparently has been going on for 2+ months, but only today could I isolate the cause/ effect as healing seemed to have occured over the past two weeks. I have been applying either "Prep - H" or trimple antibiotic ointment to ease irritation. Last week I had a mild dyverticulitis episode which has subsided. I've had approx. 5 severe to mild episodes over the past 3-4 years.

Thanks for your query.
Noted your history of clear discharge from the rectum which irritate the skin to become red, itchy and swollen around anus for 2 months. . You got this treated with Prep-H or triple antibiotic ointments over the last 2 weeks and it is better.
You are a known case of diverticulitis wherein you had 5 attacks i past 3-4 years.
I would advise you the following:
Get colonoscopy and CT scan of the abdomen done to get the actual level of diverticulitis.
Get a proper antibiotic cover and consider surgical option for cure.
If there are associated symptoms, they need to be tackled accordingly.

Have diet as advised by your treating Doctor or dietitian.
Plenty of oral fluids.
Multi-vitamins and minerals help in good recovery.
