What Are Effects Of Getting Xray During Pregnancy?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here... I found out I was 6-8 weeks pregnant at the time of having a chest xray in A+E due to palitations nobody even asked me if there was a possibility of being pregnant and the thought never crossed my mind I also took beta blockers for a fortnight after the xray now I feel I have to abort the baby due to the increased risk of birth defect and cancer when I already have two healthy children
I can understand your concern. X-ray radiation is hazardous especially during pregnancy. But chest X-ray radiation dose is far below the maximum allowable dose. In early pregnant, nature follows all or none law.Nature doesn't generally allow to grow malformed embryo/fetus. So,you don't worry at all. There are almost no chance of radiation hazard due to chest X-ray. However, you need close observation and antenatal screening for malformation should be done meticulously. It includes blood test and ultrasound.
Wish you all the best. Take care, Dr.Indu Bhushan.
